Throwback Thursday – Sushi for breakfast? YES, please! Irasshaimase!
If you are looking to make a trip to Tokyo, you must try and squeeze in some time to check out the famous Tsukiji fish market. Surely, no visit to Tsukiji is complete without a sushi breakfast. Look no further than Sushi Dai, located just steps away from the market. The two most popular shops in the alleyway are Sushi Dai and Sushi Daiwa (with a slightly shorter line). During both visits Mr. H and I opt for Sushi Dai.
It’s the perfect place to bring out your camera! The chefs are friendly and multilingual. I call them the Tsukiji fish market’s celebrity chefs. They will not shy away from any photo opportunities. With smiles that go on for miles they make each person walk away with a happy memory both in their belly and mind. I knew my grumpiness for the wait would dissipate the moment I sat down.
Sushi Dai seats up to 10 guests at a time at the sushi bar. The most popular item is the chef’s special course of 10 nigiri and one roll, as well as one nigiri of the diner’s choice. (We always choose fatty toro)
At ¥3,975 including tax, it makes a delectable morning meal adventure that won’t break the bank. (You may also add a la carte pieces to your omakase, as we had.)
